Newly released documents from the U.S. Justice Department’s massive disclosure of Jeffrey Epstein records include provocative allegations involving Microsoft co‑founder Bill Gates, touching off fresh controversy and strong denials from Gates’s camp.
The documents, part of more than three million pages of emails and files made public under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, include a draft email dated July 18, 2013, that appears to be written in Epstein’s own account. In that email, Epstein claimed that Gates had contracted a sexually transmitted disease following encounters with “Russian girls” and sought antibiotics to give to his then‑wife, Melinda Gates, without her knowledge.
The messages were sent by Epstein to himself and were framed as if they came from an adviser to Gates. One line in the draft includes Epstein’s description of a request to “delete emails regarding your std” and to provide antibiotics Gates could provide secretly, a detail that quickly caught attention as the files circulated online and in news reports.
Gates’s spokesperson issued a firm rejection of the claims, calling them “absolutely absurd and completely false” and saying the documents reflect Epstein’s frustration after Gates ended their association. The spokesperson emphasized that the material does not demonstrate wrongdoing and was part of drafts that may not have been sent to anyone outside Epstein’s own account.
Bill Gates has previously acknowledged meeting Epstein in the early 2010s for philanthropic discussions but said he ended the relationship once Epstein’s criminal history was widely known. Gates has long insisted there was no deeper personal or business relationship, and he expressed regret over ever having contact with Epstein.
The broader batch of documents released includes emails, travel records, and other materials connecting Epstein with a range of prominent figures, reigniting debate about the nature of his networks and the limits of the disclosures. While some items in the collection are routine scheduling notes, others have drawn intense scrutiny as journalists and lawmakers examine what the unprecedented public release reveals about Epstein’s connections to elite circles.
As of now there is no independent verification of the specific allegations about Gates’s personal life contained in the emails, and experts caution that many items in the release consist of drafts, unverified claims and correspondence that may not have been sent or received as written.
